Asparagus Wrapped in Prosciutto and Puff Pastry

Ingredients:

asparagus spears, washed, dried and trimmed
paper thin prosciutto cut in half lengthwise
thawed puff pastry
olive oil

Directions:

Remove puff pastry from freezer and allow to sit for 10 minsPreheat the oven to 400 degrees F. Line a baking sheet with parchement paper.

Wrap half sloce of prosciutto around each asparagus spear.
With a pizza cutter, slice the puff pastry into 1/2 wide strips.
Wrap puff pastry around the asparagus.
Arrange wrapped spears in a single layer on a baking sheet.
Bake for about 25 minutes in the preheated oven, or until asparagus is tender, prosciutto is crisp and puff pastry is golden brown. Serve immediately.

Note: Prosciutto is salty enough, so you don't need to season with salt.
You can brush the puff pastry with egg wash and sprinkle with garlic powder and parmesan cheese.

    1. Elpiniki thanks so much for the comment. This time I wrapped them with puff pastry from end to end like a spiral, sometimes I just put a wide piece of pastry around the asparagus, like a ring. That looks fancy too.

    1. Terri You are right, actually you can serve it by itself, or as an appetizer. I made this for dinner, I wanted something light and I had all the ingredients at home. Just defrost the puff pastry and in no time you have your dinner, or appetizer, or side dish :-)

  31. Hi Anita, all three of your blogs are so lovely, and well arranged. Can't imagine how you could possibly keep up with all of them. I used to have two blogs, and have dropped my previous one soon after I started 'foodandthrift'...which actually started out as a 'thrift finds' blog.

Love your clever, and creative asparagus snacks. Puff pastry is so versatile...so many yummy things can be made with them! Bookmarking this recipe...thanks for sharing, and for following my blog!
